Driven by a “nosy social scientist” curiosity, Wilma actively engages with individuals impersonating international stars online, often with fake profiles. She meticulously documents their tactics, identifying recurring patterns such as:
Financial exploitation: Often for untraceable Google Stream\/Apple cards.<\/em>
Emotional manipulation: Feigned emergencies, romance, or charity appeals, particularly for orphanages.<\/em>
Identity deception: Multiple fake social media accounts and brief, often fabricated, video calls.<\/em>
Her ongoing investigations aim to warn the public about these pervasive online deceptions.
